It wasn't A Rubix Competition He Had Entered....

Graduate Exhibition....

Well, all the preparations have been prepared, all the setting up has been set up and we now have our exhibition up and ready for the public! It has taken four long days, lots of coffee, coke and last minute panics, but lo and behold, it is complete! There are 23 of us, and lots of different styles of photography to peruse! We all also have our photobooks out on display to sift through. 

So...in trying to decide the order of my photos, what do i realise? Yes, they are two of the same framed print...It happened to be a good thing for the overall installation though so happy days :) 

The exhibition will be open from today, the 4th June until the 26th June. Our opening night will be held next tuesday at 6:30 pm, so if anyone is about and wants to head on in, please do! 

New Artwork...

Some new artwork for Miracle Bell's next single Inhale - Exhale. Shall be released on the 17th June for you to enjoy!

Land Between book...

My project has now been completed, and everything is all handed in. The final step was the submission of our photobook. This is what I decided to do with my book. Thanks to The clever add nimble hands of my dad, he was able to make my idea gasped. It's basically a wooden box that opens up and lights up a cover image and you find the book inside....

Land Between...

At long last, my final project has been completed and has culminated in a series of 14 images that you can view on my website by clicking the image below...

This series, along with 22 other fantastic works will be showing in the DIT Graduate Photography Exhibition 2011 in June. The opening night is on the 7th June, with a wine reception and guest speaker Matt Packer will be making the opening speech. All are welcome and there will also be an after party in the Sycamore Club just around the corner! So do come along!

100th Post.....

This is my 100th post since Shudder Finger started...so to mark the occasion I drew with my left hand instead....! :) Thanks to all those who come and read my blog, whoever you are :) 

Working Backwards....

So, it turns out that my project wasn't working out in the direction that it was going. Therefore, I'm having to go back to some previous ideas and work from there. I'm currently editing together a series of composite images that look at the questioning scale and reality etc etc...Like this one. We'll see how that goes down....hmmm...

Getting There...

Have been trying to work with Adobe After Effects with still images in order to produce a subtle moving sequence to include in my landscape project. It has taken some time to try and firstly get to grips with the software, granted, I haven't really done so, but its all about baby steps So, I was having trouble with the rendering of the movie, they were either 15-20gb large (for a 30 second piece) and wouldn't play...or to small and bad quality. I have now managed to export it as a file that is still large, but playable and have burnt it to DVD. 
I am wanting to include the moving sequence in the graduate show exhibition along with prints, so am working on playing it on a monitor, as opposed to showing it as a projection....perhaps. We'll see what happens!

In other news, I have finally conquered Wordpress (ish). And have, after many many long hours, managed to get my new website up and running! There are still some bits to be done, but sure, it's good enough for me at the moment anyway! You can view it here.

More Landscape Work....

When You Need to Stop and Think...

Possible Installation Idea...

So was trying out some things today...This is what ensued.

It's basically a projected still moving piece onto a sculpture made from crepe paper and  chicken wire (with the wire taken out) The view is both from behind and in the sculpture.

Any thoughts....?

Candle Designs....

I've just finished designing a series of occasional candles for The Candle Emporium, in Ennis. You will be able to buy them online very soon, as well as other personalized, scented and occasional candles in their store.

Causing a Stir.....

9.30am. Meeting House Square, Temple Bar. A dozen photographers. Double sided tape. Construction boarding.


Photography, guerilla style...

This morning a group of us created a pop up photography exhibition in the meeting house square. It is currently being worked on and looks a state....especially for a culturally central location. Our answer to this was to doll it up with our work.

Now, let's see how long it lasts....
